Manchester City Council

As a city that lives and breathes sport, Manchester continues to strengthen its impressive reputation for attracting major international sports championships. Named as one of the world’s Ultimate Sports Cities by SportBusiness Magazine in 2016, Manchester will host several major events in 2017 such as the Great Manchester Run, Aegon Manchester Trophy Tennis, PSA World Squash Championships and the Netball Superleague Grand Final.

These events help to raise the city's global sporting profile, whilst bringing long-term social and economic benefits to Manchester and its residents. The city's excellent range of accessible sports facilities, combined with its school and community sports development programmes, provide the springboard for Manchester's sporting stars of the future.

We Love MCR

We Love MCR Charity improves the lives and life chances of Manchester people.

Our aim is to support the residents of Manchester who are in the greatest need to reach their full potential. Every penny raised stays here in Manchester, helping to bring positive benefits to communities throughout the City.

We support a wide range of projects and initiatives. The charity provides funds and support to local community groups, projects and individuals through two funds; the Community Grants Programme and the Short Breaks for All Grant Programme.

Since 2011 the charity has supported over 140 community groups and projects in Manchester. As well as enabling 325 adults and 595 children to experience a short break as a family. Many of the families we support have never had the opportunity to experience a holiday together and spend important time as a family away from their normal environment.
